Project Force is underway. C3P0 is undergoing major upgrades in an attempt to virtualize each host in the dagobah domain minus my current backup solution(subject to change, like anything else). The result of this project should yield less heat while using less hardware and electricity to run all hosts in the Dagobah System, for FREE. VMware ESXi is pretty cool stuff.

I've finally graduated to an xbox360 and can't wait to start streaming media from my mythTV box to the xbox360. Just one problem, the xbox is designed to accept streamed media from only Windows Media Player or Center running from a Windows Computer......my media server is Linux :`( What am I to do? Do not fret, Twonky is a 'free' Universal Plug and Play(UPnP) server which accomplishes the same task for many Linux distributions and Macs.

There is another story of a woman unexpectanltly having a child(which still blows my mind). Regardless, when women having babies 'out of the blue' becomes a common situation, I would tend to think obesity is a certified epidemic. I can see it now, "Doc, my stomach is cramping up and really hurting. You think its gas?" "No ma'am, thats your son."

Happy Halloween. Since the 9/11/01 attacks on the nation's airline companies there has been a hike in prices known as the 9/11 fee applied to each ticket purchase. Where does that money go? Well here in St. Louis $160k of the spent tax money is being put in storage because airport officials have deemed it an eyesore and cant agree on where to put it. Dont you typically spend $160k on equipment you need and already have a plan for? The knee is getting better. Congrats Cards.

Dear God. Please make Tony LaRussa disappear from St. Louis baseball. You dont have to kill him or have him hurt, just disappear. I will glady forfeit two losing seasons to have that cancer removed from our game. Please replace him with any chimp from the zoo that has the sense to not play someone with a hurt shoulder, do play someone who is batting 1000 in the post season, and can recognize talent when he sees it. Please take Izzy also.

Sincerly,
Cardinal Nation

Every summer there are at least 10 consecutive days where it is 93 degrees or hotter here in St. Louis. Hitting 100 is pretty hot but is not unheard of. The last phrase I would use to describe the current heat wave that has hit most of the nation is "Insanity. Insanity!" I bet things wouldve sucked 300% more if you lived before air conditioning, refrigeration, or electricity became such a standard in our society. I cant imagine today's temperature(currently 96), living in a home made of sticks and buffalo skin, sweating my ass off in 85% humidity, and knowing that if I wanted something to eat for lunch Id have to run around in the heat and kill it. These hot days were much better when all I had to do was go swimming each day but I will take this anytime over walking to work in pain because my ears, nose, and fingers are frostbitten. You are spoiled, I am not insane.

July 4th, 2006

I have no pics from Fair Saint Louis this year because it sucked. They didnt even have an air show for this year. It was only two days(Saturday and Tuesday) and practically every vital street in the city has construction work on it. I drove a few blocks down the street tonight to watch the fireworks because they are usually the best in the area. Man I dont know about this year. Maybe it had something to do with the rain but a lot was left to be desired. I guess this was a statement year for the Fair St. Louis organization that they will need money from the public for a much better fair. Anyway, happy 4th of July.

Greetings from Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Im trying to figure out why I can pick up minor league baseball games on the radio down here but not any World Cup matches. Poor Sony cannot catch a break in the Blu-ray vs HD-DVD battle. In a recent demo for Blu-ray technology on the (now 10 year old)Vaios model a reporter intrested in the disk itself revealed the 'Blu-ray demo' was actually running off a regular DVD-R. Idiots.

He recently emailed me this text file he had gotten from a man, Harry Stottle, who does computer science research(and who is also a good friend of his) at the university. If you have 20 minutes to read it(yes it will take that long to read this file) I highly suggest it. Im not entirely sold on the story, but it is conceivable and quite entertaining.

In 1995 I saw a movie called "Hackers" and instantly fell in love with Kate Libby(Acid Burn) who is now so well known as Angelina Jolie. How could you not be in love with this girl? The short hair, almond green eyes, and a set of lips that just made you wanna....... Anyway, back then(were talking pre-Gia) she was w/o a doubt my first wish when asked, "What would you ask for if you had three wishes?" Now, she makes me want to puke. Why? Ive had enough. First there was the kissing her brother on TV thing. Eh, that was ok cause shes hot and I had a thing for troubled girls. Then there was the whole Billy Bob-tattoo-blood in a vial deal which really I didnt mind cause it was original but never understood it being with Billy Bob. Now, there is this new story reporting that Angelina's children can now take Brad Pitt's lastname. WTF? Sweetheart, he hasnt even been divorced for a year. How are you going to give your children his last name when youre not even married to him? This isnt a tattoo you can have removed or filled in - these are human lives you are now fucking up. Brad, c'mon dude. It cant be THAT good(you lucky bastard).

I recently ran across this article that does a good job of explaining the xbox 360's popular capabilities in not too technical terms. Capabilities that many of us have had with our original xboxes for years. More proof the computer network will be a standard part of our homes in the not too distant future.

December 19th, 2005

Congratulations are in order for my sister who got married over the weekend. Its nice to have a brother in the family finally. I got an early Christmas present from my friend John. John is working for a company that is reconstructing the old Velvet on Washington Avenue into retail space for the yuppies that now populate what used to be the best place to go in St. louis to hear electronic music. Before gutting the place John stumbled apoun a back room with the walls covered in event posters and memorabilia. He was able to snag me a poster of an event which I attended and was also signed by the much liked Charles Feelgood. Supposedly he'll be able to get my many more.

The movie was premiered lastnight at the Tivoli in the Loop as a part of the 2005 St. Louis International Film Festival. The party carried over to Blueberry Hill and good time was had by all. Being that I dont really know much about the Goth culture I found it quite informative. I forgot my camera. :\

Im in the process of building my latest addition to the Dagobah System and cant say enough good things about the linux distribution Ubuntu. Many people shy away from the linux world because of its well known problems in hardware detection and finding software that everyday users need to communicate. I could not believe how well the Ubuntu group has over come these obstacles. It will even mount(recognize) USB thumb drives automatically just like Windows. :)

September 6th, 2005

As a reward for busting our butts at work(yeah right) my boss has given out tickets to the Cards/Cubs game for tonight. Now, the seats are pretty high up but A)it is a huge rivalry and 2)this might be my last time in Busch Stadium before it gets demolished. Hopefully I dont get misty eyed when leaving. In other news.....My 10 year high school reunion was this past week. I really didnt enjoy high school when I was younger but this weekend turned out to be somewhat fun and pretty entertaining. Now I sit and wonder would school have been as fun if I drank as much as I did the previous 3 days. I miss the days of no hang overs. Big day coming up Sunday.

Just got back from Put-In Bay and Sandusky, OH. Had tons of fun and was sorta sad when our 1,200+ mile journey had ended. Next is a trip to Monterey, CA for my cousin's (yes another cousin) wedding. This is going to be my first trip to the west coast so you know Ill be posting pics. Ill also put up all the other pics Ive taken from my trips this summer when I get time. Hope to see any of you at the STL 2600 meeting tomorrow.

July 15th, 2005

Greetings from beautiful Colorado! Man, what a great three days I just had at Mirror Lake in the Rocky Mountian National Park. The scenery was awesome and though the hiking was rough - it was worth every step when we arrived at our site. I took a couple minutes to put a page together with the pics I took so far. Since Im hosting this site on a basic DSL connection the high resolution pictures may take a while to upload but they are really worth the wait. Im off to dinner. I hope to post more pics as the weekend goes on back in civilization(aka a soft bed).

July 12th, 2005

Finally, Im off to Colorado Springs, CO for 3 days of camping and then my cousin's wedding. Im going to do my best to post my pics while Im gone. As long as my web server stays up and I have internet access Ill be able to put up pics. This is the first of many vacation weeks for me. Its been a long time coming.

Downloading the 6th episode of an internet show called The Scene. Its kinda enjoyable. I at least find myself hooked enough to look foward to the next episode. T-mobile is a sneaky S.O.B. Suddenly Im assuring them good profits for this quarter. :\

March 3rd, 2005

My friend Juan is hosting another get together this saturday night at the Kastle on Washington here in St. louis. I know Ive spoken about these nights before however this Saturday night is going to be special. Matt French of Surveillance Records will be doing a live set. Without a doubt THE BEST PRODUCER in the bi-state area of electronic music. $5 dollars to experience Techno happiness.

March 2nd, 2005

RIP C3P0. I got the call today that C3P0's motherboard died. Today is a very somber day in the Dagobah system. But dont you get sad young ones....he will be back. I just have to find the most economical/feasable way of finding a new system for him and he will live on a la 'Ghost in the Shell'. I suppose I now have motivation to get my taxes done.

March 1st, 2005

MC CHRIS will be here on the 7th(Monday). Totally worth the $12. Dont know who Im talking about? Who wouldnt wanna see these lyrics be performed by a slick kid of the 80's straight out of Libertyville, Ill?(from "Fett's Vett"):
"got a job to do and darth's the guy that delegates
got something against skywalker someone he really hates
I don't give a fuck I'm after Solo
For all I care he could be hiding at yoda's dojo"

Feburary 4th, 2005

Tomorrow is the big Mardi Gras parade here in St. Louis. My apartment is one block from the parade route and is located in what the police call "The Red Zone". Happy New Year everyone. Just got done watching the 60 Minutes story on Google. I was pretty impressed. Looks like they are going to be bringing pretty cool products to everyone...FOR FREE. The cell phone store locator(via txt message) was amazing.

Merry Christmas everyone. It was a good one.

Apparently St. Louis is the fourth most dangerous city in the U.S.(actually 3rd on a technicality). I'm thinking about buying a gun.

Be one of the cool kids for a night. See you at the Kastle.

November 8th, 2004

I saw this story on the news lastnight and was astonished. First that these people have the IQ of a stick and have made it into their 80's. Second, the luck that these people have. For those of you not familiar with the St. Louis Metropolitain area (and those of you who think that the world ends at Sauget, Ill) there are many MANY places you can get lost between Maryland Heights and East St. Louis(which have to be atleast 40 minutes AND ONE RIVER away from each other). You have to watch the video on this story to appreciate how funny this is. Things that blow my mind - they were totally in the wrong state, they wouldnt stop for directions after being lost for 24 hours (not to mention driving around for that long) and after getting gas 3 times! Can anyone think of a better case to support an age limit on driving? Amazingly no cars were side swiped with an 80+ year old behind the wheel for more than 30 minutes.

It appears that it just wasnt meant to be for the Cardinals this year. *sigh* What a waste. Atleast the Cubs are still the only team who havent won a championship since MLB has been broadcasted over radio.

Not that I believe it, but Dr. Hannu Kari thinks that the internet as we know it will collapse in the year 2006. Rubbish, but worth the read.

A venue with good electronic music here in St. Louis is few and far between these days. Parties used to be pretty cool and worth the hassle of the authorities to see and hear people spin music from all over the world. You didnt get the watered down plasic shit that you get now on Washington (Z-107.7 is live from Velvet now for Christ's sake) and certainly the DJ's were much more humble. Anyway, come listen to some good techno(not the generic word for dance music) where my friend Chyle(MasterMind) will be spinning along with others at the Kastle. Also Adam Jay will be doing a live set. That means he'll be making the music right there. Very good stuff. Here is the flyer. Hope to see you there.

My fellow Americans. Our team World Cup team did a great job in getting us much respect in the soccer world in the 2002 World Cup. The United States is actually known as a force to reckon with as far as international soccer goes. But we are screwing that up with this latest push of humiliation. To all the soccer moms: Soccer is a sport and you may actually get hurt. If you cant handle that, have your kids join the chess club.

It appears hanging chads(sp?) could be the least of our worries for the election this year. This is an older article but still very relevant, check it out. Im slowly begining to think that population is overwhelming democracy.

Project Hyperdrive is now complete. Intresting results and fun.

October 1st, 2004

I have a new project to work on. I was thinking about buying a new WiFi card since mine does not have a pigtail option. However I saw this site and it got me to thinking that perhaps I could make a similar type antenna to place the end of my PCMCIA card into and perhaps give me better results while wardriving. It would also help me narrow down the direction from which the signal is coming from. Ill post progress.

Today on DVD: "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." STAR WARS! Ive waited a long time for this day. I hope I dont cry while in line at Best Buy.

September 17th, 2004

Big props to the city of St. Louis for thinking about the future. Apparently there are serious talks about making the entire city a Wi-Fi hotspot. Here is an article about the idea. Those of you who are intrested in Open Source software be sure to check out the Gateway Open Technologies Expo this weekend in St. Charles. Should be a good time.

September 11th, 2004

Happy b-day to me. All in all it was a good day. I got a really nice 4.1M pixel digital camera. Very nice and most importantly I dont have to use my sister's camera anymore to take pics for this site! Check this out. The believed first talking worm. Kinda funny but not cool. Watch out for those e-mail attachments.

Happy Labor Day. Its great to be off work and not have to use vacation days. I had THE BEST time on Saturday night. I have been to a lot of places in St. louis however there is no other place better go than the city museum. They have a massive playground that is convienently placed right next to a bar. After a few drinks you are more or less hypnotized by the enormous ball pit (which I lost my cell phone in) not to mention the multiple stories of tunnels and paths made of rebarb. Totally worth the cover charge.

I just read that Paris Hilton's dog, Tinkerbell, is missing. This is great. Why couldnt this have happened during one of the tapings of The Simple Life? Apparently Paris is offering $5000 for returning her bitch.

I have been a long time non-believer of ghosts or anything of the afterlife but after I saw this this clip I was so scared I got the chills. Look for a white mist to be following the car as it travels down the road. The mist will pass infront of the car and form what looks to be a boy trying to stop the car. With the sound turned up you can actually hear the word "Stop" being said. Still not convinced? The driver died the next day of heart complications. A must see. For the best quality right click on the link and select 'Save target as', make sure you have the sound on.

Cards were on ESPN tonight. Every baseball fan on the continent got to see the Cards kick the @!#% out of the Giants (Barry's ass). The only thing better than the Cards being 30 games over .500 is seeing the Cubs almost 20 games over and still being in second by 11 games. :) I'm in Subbuteo training.(check links)

WTF?!!!!! Ok, I must acknowledge St. Louis Celebrate 2004 and Mr. Paul Oakenfold for their efforts (both did a great job). But what happended tonight was a tragedy. There may be some cuss words. Definately PG-13.

Well things did not turn out the way we wanted them to last Sunday for the soccer tournament. Our team played well and we made it to the semi-finals and ended up losing to a really good team that Im sure won the tournament. The tournament was held at Union Station here in St. Louis and while waiting for our second game to start I ventured into Union Station and saw a cool game called Subbuteo. I met with one of the guys that is from STL and is a part of the Subbuteo League here in St. Louis. I was immediately obsessed.

Today I'm filled with butterflies and excitement. I'm playing on a co-ed team for the Street Soccer Cup Tournament on Sunday. It's not much, but its as close as I can get to competetive matches now that Im out of school and have a job. Also I've found some cool sites from people here in STL regarding soccer. Theyre located in the info link. Ill try to post pics - hopefully of our team winning the cup.

If the USPS, a mailman, or even a landlord were caught going through your mail for both a commercial and profitable advantage I'm sure the responsible party would be booked on felony charges. What about phone conversations? E-mail? This article is painting a scary picture for future communication privacy regarding computers. Know your E-MP.

Fresh off vacation from beautiful S. Carolina. There are many great exotic places in the world however, none probably as relaxing as Kiawah Island, SC. Over the weekend I saw a great movie called 'The Believer'. I dont really ever remember it coming out in the movies (perhaps cause its an independent) but I was floored by the ending of this movie. If you're looking for something to watch from either Netflix or your local renting establishment, get this movie.

Conan Top Ten Moment tonight on Late Night w/ Steve Irwin (Conan was a croc). I've been pretty busy at work. Waiting for the next issue of MWA to come out. I love me some summer. Vacation and international soccer is in my near future. Its gonna be a fun summer. On a more somber note, my favorite drinking establishement - Lo has been closed apparently for good. I cannot express how confused and sad I am that my Wednesday sake nights are over. They may change the location however it will never be the same. :(

I dont know Nicholas Berg. I dont even know where Westchester, Penn is. I do know however that what happend to Nick Berg is probably worse than I could ever imagine. I've debated whether or not to put this up but have decided that it should be seen. Not for the gory aspect of entertainment or acceptance from an audience but merely to reflect the mind frame of the people who hate anything to do with America. You cannot reason with people like this. They cant conceive compromise. Life or death is what they understand. If you are an American please wake up and realize that your mere presence in their countries is enough for them to want to kill you. Americans cannot help these people. This is the lesson we learn from a man in his twenties who merely worked in the communications field trying to build a better Iraq. Somehow we've lost our bearings and are replacing a government while al-Queda flourishes. What's going on?

The Degobah System has undergone some changes for the better thanks to the charity of other's machines that are no longer being used use. The Evoen Server (the first server to serve on the Degobah Sytem) has been retired and has been replaced by a "newer" old metrix system provided to me by my workplace. A media server has also been added for more storage space to be streamed to my xbox. Speaking of the xbox, it is complete and Im pretty happy with the final outcome. Final pics will be up soon. On a 'personal belief' note, I love the city of St. Louis. The city is in a major transition phase right now and I think that the current powers that be should be praised. However, more needs to be done to extinguish Rev. Larry Rice's self-proclaimed power here in the downtown area. It seems that when things don't go his way the people who he 'helps' feel his wrath. Larry, there is an old saying: "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." So you lost out on 1,000 more beds for the homeless. Don't take it out on them for getting some education from another charitable organization. Quit trying to harbor unproductivenes and start helping to build a better St. Louis.

A KVM(keyboard, video, mouse) switch is a great solution to a two system setup no doubt. However, I have more important 'necessities' that draw on my bank account so I really cant afford one. Enter Synergy. This is a great freeware program that lets you use one keyboard for as many boxes as you want. Whats even better is that its compatible with windows and linux systems. Youll still need two monitors but you gain a ton of space on your desk. Check it out.

Modding Mecca. If you took this to a LAN party you could actually charge for campers around your desk. Make sure you're sitting down if you decide to watch the video clip. My xbox has my Xecuter 2.3 Lite + chip in it and is now running the evoX dashboard. I'm going to put a bigger HD in and then it will be finished. I'll post pics when Im done.

Mar. 3rd, 2004

I just got my Xecuter lite plus mod chip for my Xbox. With this chip I'm going to be turning my Xbox in to a media server for the most part. I'll be able to back up all my games and run them from the harddrive. Sweeeet. I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the week. Ill post pictures and maybe even post a 'how to' if anyone is also intrested.

Mardi Gras pictures are up. Just a sample to get the flavor of how the day went.

Feb. 25th, 2004

And were back... *sigh* What a weekend. Let's see where to start? Well first off Mardi Gras was pretty cool and pics are on the way. Probably up tomorrow or Friday. Incase you didn't notice Alderaan was down since Sunday. Since about 200,000 people came down to celebrate, the cell phone companies put up extra towers and also hung extra power lines. Sunday they were taking the extra lines down and then the power went out in my apartment complex. No problem, thats why I have a APC powercell as a back up. The only thing is I was staying at my mom's on Sunday so I could help her out early Monday for her surgery to remove cancerous tissue(the surgery went great, and she is recovering very well). So through out the day R2-D2 and evoen were running on a APC UPS. I wonder how long that lasted. When I get home the power is on and I try to tend to evoen. On boot up I get 'login @localhost'. Localhost? It should be 'evoen'. Somehow pretty much all my settings were erased and the machine just doesn't know who it is or what it does. So I had to re-install the OS and set up the server all over again. Moral of the story? Back up your data boys and girls.

Feb. 19th, 2004

Mardi Gras crazyness starts tomorrow. *gulp* I approach this day with great caution. Im going to try to get some pictures from Saturdays parade up here. Living a block from the parade route should give me some good content.

How many times in school did you hear, "you're gonna go to hell" from some kid while standing in line at school? I think someone was having a bad day and took it out on little Brandy.
